WWC: Pay it Forward

Courtesy of Odd Mix, the words are Blessing and Thanks.

Great words this week. I have given them quite a lot of thought. My blessings are so many and my heart is full. I have thought about different ways to say thanks but the one that seems most fitting is to "pay it forward". I have some friends who are excellent at "paying it forward" and to that end they provide our church (willi and me included) the same opportunity many times over. You will see the fruits of their efforts in the pictures below.

Say thanks by helping out a family in need.

Feed the youth...say thanks.
Support World AIDS Day...say thanks.

Save gently worn coats for kids who need them...say thanks.
Provide school supplies for the new school year...say thanks.

Thanks to my friends.
You will recognize them as daddy d and mjd.

"The operational answer is to do the best you can, when you can, all the time you can, with as many people as you can."
- daddy d

Drop some coins in the shiny red bucket...say thanks.
Take some canned goods to the food pantry...say thanks.
Contact the nearest shelter to see how you can help...say thanks.

A little bit really does go a long way...just say thanks.

They are pretty special aren't they. They are always serving others in such amazing ways. I know our home is very thankful for these two wonderful people.

Blush, Thank you for this complimentary post. Thanks for all of things that Gawilli and Willi do. I think that our church is loving, giving, and inclusive group of people. I am proud to be part of a group that is so willing to reach out to others.

This sharing and "paying it forward" is a grand concept and brings joy to both the giver and receiver.

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts; your post brought a few tears to my eyes too.

This post really hit home for me because of so many reasons!

Buddy just started to say "Thank you" without any prompting :-) He even said it today at lunch when I passed the basket of chips to him.

We give a gift for a boy and a gift for a girl each year since it began at Target, under their tree, We love to do this, even thought we have our kids to get gifts for. Now they have learnt about giving to others in need too. I get them to help wrap it and place it under the tree :)

If I know someone in need of money I never give it in the form of a loan. If I can afford it I will give it outright and then ask them to "pass it on to someone else in need when you are able to do so." It has worked well over the years and is my small way to say, "thanks".

Wow ... you are so kind. Being around you is a joy.

The direct quote is:"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." John Wesley

I just like the word operational.

Thanks again.

Great post! I would add one possibility (lots of detail on my site)... invite one person who would be alone otherwise to share your home, family and friends for some holiday time. Take someone for coffee.

Peace,

~Chani

Her indoors - in visiting various sites tonight I see this type of post over and over again. That is good news!

Debi - I love your heart, too. I think we are kindred spirits.

Pj librarian - Yep, they are very special. I am very glad they are a part of our lives.

Ch3ll3 and Tink - the real meaning of the season, right?

Susan - saying thanks does mean a lot. Sometimes it is a kind of a validation, a recognition of the importance of someones existance. Sounds hokey I guess - but I know at times it has meant an awful lot to me on both ends - giving as well as receiving.

Graymama - Buddy warms the heart. I enjoy hearing little bits of his growing up. His mama is pretty heartwarming, too!

Jay, I see more everyday - stop by Thailand Gal's blog. She has a good idea also.

Cazzie, I did this with my kids also. It was a good way to learn about the importance of giving as well as receiving.

Ginnie - what a nice gift; one that really encourages people to pay it forward.

Chani - thanks for stopping by - you are right...very gracious way to say thanks.
