I'm pretty happy with the language I have actually, although sometimes I probably don't do it justice.

What's the funniest thing you've heard or read so far this week?
My friend's husband is retired. He was determined this morning to do their grocery shopping in an effort to give her a break, as she is still working. He literally followed her around the house until she unwillingly gave him the list. A few hours after we were at work she received an e-mail from him outlining his trials and tribulations. It began with:
I bought Coke, but not the one that was on sale, so I will return it.
I was not able to fill the prescriptions since the pharmacy does not open until 8:00.
I'm not quite sure what Ghiradelli's are.
I could not find the Wisk that was on sale.
There were about four or five more items, followed by this...
I did get the eggs, Shout, milk and bread.
I'm going to take a nap now. I'm tired.
He called a little later in the day to report that he had indeed returned the Coke and purchased the size that was on sale.
He had forgotten about the prescriptions.

Which movie was so bad you couldn't watch the whole thing?
We don't generally mess with watching movies unless we are pretty sure we will like them. Lately I have been thinking about watching Lonesome Dove again. Maybe over the holidays we will get a chance.

If there were a holiday in your honor that didn't use your actual name, what would the day be called?

Oh, man. This is not a good question for me. I don't even know what movies are out now, let alone coming out. I was going to see DaVinci Code for the first time at church last month and wasn't able to make it!
I'm sneaking in one last post about our Texas trip. Willi and I ate at a great oyster bar and it's right on the trolley line!
You will find S & D Oyster Company in this historic brick grocery in the Uptown area.
The oysters, shucked at the front counter, were fresh and very clean. No sand, grit, or pieces of shell for me, thank you very much! The hostess mixed the sauce using condiments at our table.
It just doesn't get much better than this...oysters on the half-shell with a nice cold Shiner Bock!
Next time you are in Dallas, be sure and visit S & D Oyster Company on McKinney Avenue. Oysters on the half-shell, barbecued shrimp, well smoked beef brisket, and pork ribs are served with New Orleans style.
Next time...a little homemade Christmas!

Even though it's 6:15 a.m., I would love to try those yummy oysters, Saltine crackers, sauce, and that Shiner Bock...right now!
This was a wonderful buffet. The Soup course was great. I aspirated my coffee when I got to, "he had forgotten the prescription." How much gas/time did he use to take the not on sale Cokes back for the on sale Cokes?
I've actually never had oysters. I really guess I should try them sometime.
not a fish eater and oysters dont think i could stomach them, great post hey i have trouble with the english language ha ha
I love oysters, so it's just as well that I live in the town most famous for them, Whitstable, where you can buy them at the harbour fish market. The name 'Whitstable Oyster' is protected by law, just like the name 'Champagne' or 'Parma Ham'.
Wow,I don't even like oysters but your pictures made me want to give em another try. Sounds like a great trip. The only movies we ever walked out on were "Interview With A Vampire" and "Eyes Wide Shut".Joe was snoring so loud in Vampire we had to go, plus it was nothing like the book and I was dissapointed. I went alone to see Eyes,I only stayed as long as I did because I thought surely it was going to get better. It seemed to go on forever.
Swampwitch - Not only that, but his wife had to go back anyway for the rest of the groceries. He really is a wonderful guy...just not very good at the market!
Jay - I didn't like them the first few times either, but Willi got me to try them fresh in New Orleans a few years back and I was hooked.
Her indoors - I know what you mean...I speak English, in my own fashion!
John! That sounds so good to me; I cannot imagine living near a fish market such as that. We can get bulk oysters at our grocery, but they are for cooking. Lucky you!
Debi, good to hear from you! Oysters are something you either really like or don't at all. I have not met anyone that "kind of likes them". I'm really not much good at movies, a little ADHD I guess. I can't sit still long enough unless they really have my attention.
Sometimes ... many times, homework is more work than work. There is much to be said about the right chain of events at the store. It does take skill. Such abilities take time to develop. Best of luck to the friend.
Ewww, oysters... I am glad that you enjoyed yours, and you can have my share too.
I really disliked some of the movies of the late 1960's and the early 1970's; movies of that time purveyed only helplessness, desolation, and hopelessness. Five Easy Pieces, Carnal Knowledge, and La Dolce Vita exemplify such movies.

I've tried all manner of seafood but oysters have eluded me. However, this looks like a good place to try them. Duly noted for the "next" time I'm in that area (i.e., the first time I visit). :o)
Daddy D - you are right about "home-work" really being harder than "work-work", and the grocery store is a matter of timing and skill. I have to say it is my least favorite task. Luckily Willi does not mind so we make that trip together. I don't mind going near as much. In fact it's kind of enjoyable.
Mjd - Agreed about movies that leave you with a bad feeling. I'd just as soon pass on them altogether. Really I guess life and reality are hard enough. Sometimes I just want to laught and feel "warm and fuzzy".
Ch3ll3 - The e-mail she shared with me was really much better than all of those "forwards" I get!
Your soup is HILARIOUS! Fortunately, I was blessed with Hubby, who LOVES to grocery shop. He knows the store layout better than me :-P
Your holiday sounds great, and hopefully it would last more than one day. A couple of weeks sound so much better :-)
